Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is Sno_Vac™ Longlife Chaff?
A. Sno_Vac™ Longlife Chaff is high grade lucerne chaff, cut to a length that allows horses to chew the chaff and which has been compressed and vacuum packed.
Q2. Is it silage?
A. No, Sno_Vac™ Longlife Chaff is not silage.
Q3. Is it difficult to break up?
A. No. For especially easy ability to break up Sno_Vac™ Longlife Chaff, pierce the plastic bag three days before use.
Q4. How well does it resist mould?
A. Even in damp atmospheric conditions, Sno_Vac™ Longlife Chaff maintains it quality. The exclusion of air from the lucerne chaff and the seal created by the plastic bag makes it very difficult for mould to grow even in very humid conditions.
Q5. How well does it maintain quality in dry conditions?
A. The vacuum packaging makes it impossible for the moisture present in the Lucerne chaff when it is packed, to escape even in the driest of conditions. If the plastic bag is pierced, the compressed nature of the chaff and the remaining plastic covering makes moisture loss a very slow process. The vacuum packaging also makes it difficult for mice to find. Mice ignore Sno_Vac™ Longlife Chaff in preference for other chaff and hay.
